Jaeger-LeCoultre’s (JLC) Reverso has found its way onto the wrists of the crème de la crème of society since 1931. It’s a special watch and to mark occasions in the watch’s history, JLC has taken to releasing limited edition or limited production anniversary pieces. The latest is the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1948, and we’ve learned that it will be in JLC’s Middle East boutiques in October of this year.
The watch features most of the iconic Reverso traits including a reversible slender case crafted from stainless steel. Being a ‘Grande’ piece however, the case is longer from top to bottom. And like the watches that were sold in 1948, this modern iteration proudly displays the wording ‘Fabriqué en Suisse’, which means ‘made in Switzerland’.
The face of the watch really stands out with a bright white dial and beautifully contrasting blue applied hour indexes, hands and chapter ring. The overall look of the dial on this tribute piece is, we’re told, almost a 100% copy of the dial found on a Reverso sold in 1948. This Reverso also forgoes an exhibition case back in favor of a steel caseback that can be engraved, giving the owner the ability to seriously personalise the timepiece.
At the heart of the watch is none other than Jaeger-Lecoultre’s Calibre 822/2 beating at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per second. Befitting a watch that identifies itself as ‘Ultra Thin’ the movement measures just 2.94mm thin, housed in a case which itself is just 7.3mm thin.
Official pricing is yet to be announced however we expect a sub US $10,000 retail price.
We’ve learned that the Grande Reverso Ultra Thin 1948 is already on sale in the region. We saw one very recently for sale at the Jaeger LeCoultre boutique in Dubai Mall.
