In just 14 days the iconic Lange 1 turns 20 years old, and A. Lange & Söhne is celebrating this milestone by releasing a limited edition run of watch sets known as the Lange 1 20th Anniversary. The set consists of a 38.5mm Lange 1 and a 36.1mm Little Lange 1.
The Saxon watchmaker says the two models “symbolise the significance of spending time together”, and that “the design of the two watches is gracefully balanced, like two harmonising voices in a duet”.
Both Lange 1 timepieces feature guilloched golden dials, and rely on Lange’s L901.0 calibre, which has 365 parts. The Little Lange 1 is also notable for featuring a bezel that is imbued with 64-brilliant cut diamonds.
Five limited edition sets will be released in a number of case and dial configurations; platinum/black, platinum/rhodié, white-gold/blue, pink-gold/argenté and pink-gold/black. Each of the different Lange 1 20th Anniversary sets is, unsurprisingly, limited to just 20 pairs as expressed by the hand-engraved ’20’ on the balance cock.
While we haven’t handled these Lange 1 watches, this ‘his and her’ set looks to be a fantastic tribute to an iconic watch. The sets present an ideal opportunity for collectors of the brand to acquire pieces that are significant, and have a great story behind them. At the same time, those lucky few will also be acquiring an iconic timepiece for their spouses as well. Remember, Lange is not a brand that does too many ladies watches, so if you’ve been agonising over what Lange timepiece to get your significant other, A. Lange & Söhne has just given you the ultimate answer.
Given the reputation and following that A. Lange & Söhne has managed to carve out for itself in the years since it re-entered the watch-world, we’re quite certain these limited edition sets will disappear in no time at all.
