Inside the Grieb & Benzinger manufacture

Grieb & Benzinger has gained the right kind of horological notoriety for creating rare and beautiful timepieces, which satisfy every want of its privileged clients. It’s a brand where personalisation is not an option but is part of the company’s DNA. Here, we take a look inside the manufacture to find out how the brand’s incredible timepieces come to fruition.

The Grieb & Benzinger team work in two ateliers; one in the heart of the famous ‘gold town’ Pforzheim, and a creative 'base camp' at Daetzingen castle in the Swabian village of Grafenau.

The company was founded back in 2005 by three men; Hermann Grieb, Georg Bartkowiak and Jochen Benzinger. Each of these men share a common passion, and are focused on different aspects of the creation process within the company.

Grieb is a watchmaker, and the man responsible for sourcing and refreshing vintage movements that go into all the company’s watches. Bartkowiak tackles design and marketing and has gained worldwide acclaim for his daring and artful designs. Benzinger meanwhile is responsible for watch design and finishing, and is a master of skeletonising, engraving and guilloché.
