Swiss watchmaker IWC has just announced a limited edition Portugieser Automatic exclusively for the Kuwaiti market. Limited to 98-pieces, the timepiece boasts a green dial and is the result of the Schaffhausen brand’s ongoing relationship with its Kuwaiti retail partner Behbehani Group.
The run of 98 watches is significant, and in this case references the year that the Swiss brand began its partnership with the Behbehani Group (1998).
The watch, ref. IW500708, features a 42.3mm stainless steel case, and boasts a sunburst green dial with contrasting golden Arabic numerals. The watch offers its wearer time, running seconds, power reserve and date indications, and is presented on a black alligator leather strap from Santoni.
IWC’s Calibre 52010 can be seen through an exhibition caseback, and offers seven days of power reserve via two barrels. The calibre features IWC’s Pellaton winding system, beats at 4Hz and relies on a Breguet hairspring. The winding rotor also features a medallion with the letter ‘B’, which connects the piece to the Behbehani Group.
The timepiece will be sold exclusively through the boutique located in Kuwait’s 360 Mall, and will retail for approximately US $11,000.
