M.A.D. Gallery Dubai brings mechanical kinetic art to the region

Dubai is the location that independent horological lab MB&F has chosen to open its third M.A.D. Gallery. M.A.D. (short for Mechanical Art Devices) is a concept that was launched in 2011 with the opening of the first gallery in Geneva, on Rue Verdaine, just a short distance away from MB&F’s offices. Since then, MB&F has opened a M.A.D. Gallery in Taipei and, now, Dubai.

Richard Mille announces the RM50-02 ACJ

Richard Mille (RM) is known for its associations with well known individuals and brands, and at SIHH 2016, the Swiss company announced a new partner, Airbus or more precisely, Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ). The collaboration has produced the RM50-02 ACJ Tourbillon Split Seconds Chronograph, a serious watch for seriously high net-worth individuals.

The case alloy, TiAl, is the same alloy that Airbus uses for its jet turbine blades, and we don't need to tell you the punishment those blades are subjected to, each time the engine is run.

MB&F’s unveils the HM6 SV at SIHH 2016

Talk about making an entrance. MB&F is showing the world of horology just what it can do at its first SIHH participation, with its new Horological Machine 6 Sapphire Vision (HM6 SV). While this piece may look like just an update of the HM6, it’s actually much more than that. Think about it, how many watches feature cases where the main element is sapphire crystal rather than metal?

MB&F introduces a little robot called Sherman

There’s just no predicting what Maximilian Büsser and his eponymous brand will get up to next. In 2015 MB&F introduced Melchior with two legs, Arachnophobia with eight legs and now, on day one of SIHH 2016, we’ve got… caterpillar treads. No, you aren’t seeing things, and yes, MB&F has a new robot, and the cute little guy is called Sherman.

We're getting a cute Wall-E vibe from MB&F's latest horological robot.

H. Moser & Cie unveils vintage inspired perpetual calendar

SIHH 2016 is still a few hours away but independent watchmaker H. Moser & Cie (HMC) has already opened its horological-gates with three new timepieces. These aren’t all new watches, instead they are different references though one in particular, the Perpetual Calendar Heritage Limited Edition,  is so distinctive compared to its predecessors, it could be considered an all new watch.

HYT pulls a watchmaking u-turn ahead of SIHH 2016

Hang on a minute! What are Roman numerals, guilloché finishing, blued hands and lacquered dials doing on a HYT watch? Vincent Perriard, CEO of HYT, famously said that his company would never create a classic piece, and yet its new piece, the H2 Tradition, has several classic touches. What’s going on? More than meets the eye, of course.

HYT says it has pulled a retro contemporary U-turn with its H2 Tradition.
