Review: A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Moon Phase, A Watch With Serious Heart

The Saxonia collection has been a part of A. Lange & Söhne’s history since the brand had its rebirth in 1994. Today the collection serves multiple purposes – the most inexpensive Lange can be found in this collection (still mechanical) but you can also turn to this collection if you want seriously complicated watches. The Saxonia Moon Phase that we’re reviewing today was unveiled at SIHH 2016 – we thought it was brilliant back then and now, after spending some more time with it, we’re completely taken with it.

This is one of the best looking moonphase watches of 2016 in our book.

The Top 5 Watches of SIHH 2015 (Part 1)

Each year the Salon International De La Haute Horologerie (SIHH for short) takes place in Geneva, and gives those lucky enough to be invited a preview of watches to come during the year (and beyond). This year the exhibition ran from January 19 to 23 and celebrated ’25 years of magic’.

The first show took place back in 1992 and featured a mere five brands. The show was born out of a desire for brands to be able to show their forthcoming products ahead of BaselWorld, which is the original Swiss watchmaking exhibition. SIHH is primarily organised by The Richemont Group, though the group does also work with several independent brands.
