How an Urwerk UR-110 ended up on Robert Downey Jr.’s wrist in Spider-Man: Homecoming

Spider-Man: Homecoming hit cinemas on July 7 and if – like this writer – you saw the film and caught the red carpet premiere videos on YouTube, you probably noticed that Robert Downey Jr., rocked an incredibly cool wristwatch. The watch was, in fact, a stunning Urwerk UR-110 RG but the really, really cool thing is that the watch was personally picked by Robery Downey Jr. himself. In other words, this was not a product placement deal.

Watch-Spotting: The watches of John Wick

We’re massive fans of 2014’s John Wick, which stars Keanu Reeves as the titular assassin. The action thriller was a hugely enjoyable film, and with John Wick: Chapter 2 playing in cinemas, we decided to re-watch the original before checking out the sequel. We also ceased the opportunity to do a bit of watch-spotting…

Watch-Spotting: We spotted a Speedmaster in ‘The Nice Guys’

‘The Nice Guys’ is a 2016 comedy/thriller that arrived and departed our shores in the Middle East with little fanfare. That’s a bit of a shame because it was a genuinely entertaining film starring Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling and several other well known actors. The movie is set in Los Angeles in the 70s, and we spotted a couple of cool watches, one of which was an Omega Speedmaster.

Watch-spotting: Phil Coulson’s watch on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. isn’t what you think it is…

With three seasons already under its belt, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is proving a popular TV show. It stars Clark Gregg as Phil Coulson, a senior S.H.I.E.L.D. agent whose team is tasked with dealing with all sorts of interesting scenarios in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’re now two seasons in, and we’d have gotten a lot further if we didn’t get sidetracked by our own mission to identify Coulson’s watch.

Watch-Spotting: The Rolex watches of Goldfinger

We’ve been dodging the heat and humidity of UAE summer this year by grabbing our favorite spot on the sofa, and watching all manner of TV shows and movies. Most recently we fed our trusty Blu-ray player a copy of 1964’s Goldfinger – one of our favorite James Bond films. The enhanced resolution and colors gave us full sight of two very cool Rolex watches – the Rolex Submariner 6538 and Rolex GMT Master 6542.

Chopard L.U.C hits 4,130 metres with AWG

We’ve a rather unique watch spotting article today. Mr. Hassan Akhras, better known as the Arab Watch Guide on Instagram, recently made the trek to the Annapurna Mountain base camp, located at a height of 4,130 metres. On his wrist, was a limited edition Chopard L.U.C 8HF Power Control.
